Academic Writing Month 2026
Take the #AcWriMo pledge
Write through Academic Writing Month this November with us. Tell us what you're working on and you'll get a free 30-day tracker, one short email a day, and a free writing retreat every Monday of the month.
What you get
- The 30-day tracker. One page for November, with space for your goal and a box for every day. Print it or fill it in on screen.
- One short email a day from 1 November. A prompt for that day's writing. It takes about a minute to read.
- A free writing retreat every Monday. Four hours of focused work on Zoom, 9am to 1pm UK time, with other PhD researchers.
- Company for the month. Everyone who pledges is on the same day of AcWriMo as you.
Free. Takes 30 seconds. Unsubscribe whenever you like.

The finish lineThe last retreat of the month, and a chance to look back at everything you wrote.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The pledge, the tracker, the daily emails and the Monday retreats are all free.
Do I have to write every day?
No. The goal is yours to set, and plenty of people write on weekdays only. Missed days are normal and don't end anything.
I'm not writing a thesis. Can I still join?
Yes. Journal articles, grant applications, book chapters and conference papers all count. So do reading, planning and editing.
I'm outside the UK. Does that matter?
Not at all. The daily emails work wherever you are, and the Monday retreats run 9am to 1pm UK time on Zoom.
